Add another Wal Mart, but no more people, please!!

from the Duh, they go hand in hand dept.
Poll shows that Californians overwhelmingly support commercial development in the state, but they are not keen on the population growth that accompanies it.
According to the poll, out of 510 people surveyed over the phone, 78% encourage commercial growth in their community, but more than half discourage population growth.

I just thought that was really funny because the two are so related. There isn't any reason for commercial growth if you don't have population growth, or atleast hope to gain it after the commercial growth.

You can check out the poll results at www.field.com

This is really funny. It reminds me of a Ray Bradbury story that I read a long time ago where this city has outlasted all the people, but still continues to "live" and function like it did when the people were still around. The subways run, the street light go on and off, and people-less elevators go up and down at random intervals. That's the future of California: commercially developing until the fastest way to get from place to place is jumping from one rooftop to the next. Then, commercial development will not need us anymore...it will grow itself like weeds do today (maybe it does already.)
